About this book
Boldly reimagined for contemporary listeners, Bible (Fenton) 28-39: Holy Bible in Modern English: Hosea - Malaki by Ferrar Fenton brings the twelve Minor Prophets to life in lucid, poetic modern English. This Religion audiobook presents Hosea through Malachi with Fenton’s characteristic fidelity to the Hebrew and Aramaic originals, his preference for the divine name "The Ever-Living," and a translator’s ear for cadence and metre.
These prophetic books speak to covenant faithfulness, social justice, judgment, repentance, and the promise of restoration—timeless themes given fresh clarity by a nineteenth-century scholar-translator who began the work in 1853 and completed the full Bible in 1903. Fenton’s wider project is notable for reordering books into a chronological sequence aligned with the Hebrew tradition and for restoring the Psalms’ songlike quality; those editorial principles shape the reading experience here, enhancing historical context and literary flow without altering the prophetic voice.
Ideal for students of theology, clergy, Bible-study groups, and listeners who favor a literary, historically informed translation, this audiobook offers a readable, reverent, and thought-provoking approach to the Minor Prophets—perfect for close study or sustained listening.
